Rice cereals for his very first time!

Xy invited my family over to her place for dinner last night. She whipped up a simple meal, which of course was really nice. I love the tiramisu best.. why? Coz got ice-cream!! SO the question is -why are there ice-cream in a tiramisu? hmm... Nyways, it was a lovely dinner and lets hope she can hold more of this type of functions! Thankfully, the understanding girl prepared me a room to feed my young boss! *pHew* alas, we have to leave kinda early too because the 'boss' wants to nap and he was getting cranky! He just love to stay home... Gone is the word 'social' from Hubby's and my vocabs dictionary at the moment.

Jaden, too, have now started on his solids. Today is his 3rd day actually on his rice cereals. Although it taste quite bland, but I guess that is what rice cereals for a 6 month old is all about. Hubby and I are feeding him the Heinz First Baby Rice Cereals. He only take in a few mouthfuls, which he blek out half of what we feed him anyway but its a good start. We stop feeding him as soon as he shows signs of struggling and turning his head away from the approaching spoon. Don't want to scare him off solids now, do we? I plan to start to cook porridge for him in a week or two or is it too early for the porridge? I want to get use to the amount of water to put inside the slow cooker, the amount of rice grains, potatoes, carrots and chicken (for the taste). No salt, no soya sauce, no additional flavouring for the little boy!

He is now weighing at 7.41kg. Quite light actually I think but well, doctor did say its okay. Hes not too thin or too fat. Just nice! Doc says the ideal weight for him to reach when he is one years old is only 9kg so there.. nothing to worry about his weight at the moment although there are alot of breastfed kids at 4 months old weighing what he weighs now! Maybe its just my genes fro the metabolism!

Now that Jaden is 6 months old, I have began to bathe him twice daily. Once when he wakes up or when its about 3-4pm, then at night, a quick warm bath before tucking him to bed. It makes him comfortable and makes sleep comes easy!

Been putting lots of cream on him because he has signs of ezcemas at his back, his hands, his body... and of course, the cradle cap. Sometimes when he wakes up in the morning, I will dab enough almond oil on his scalp only to be scrubbed off during his afternoon bath. Then after, apply Doc's cream. I am giving the cradle cap one more week to show some improvement, if not, I shall take Bryan and Dylan's mum's advice and go purchase the Elomet cream which is steroid base to kill it once and for all!

Can't wait for my sister to give birth now. Her expected due date (EDD) falls on the same day as Gwen's birthday! Such a coincidence! *sigh* I hear my boss call out to me now... got to go. *gRin*

Happy 6 Months Old Jaden!

Frustrated at the paediatricians

Its pretty frustrating when you want to take your son to the paediatrician and when you reached there, it has a sign hang "CLOSE". Fine! Maybe its my fault for not calling earlier to check if it was opened but still, it was not a public holiday so no reasons right? Nevermind, then when you call the next day and the receptionist says they are open till 9pm and that was like 530pm when you call.. so fine! You dress up your son and braved through the traffic jam and then to find it close. BUT YOU HAVE JUST CALLED LIKE 1/2 hour ago!!!!!!! Freaking ##!!@@!!

You are disappointed with paediatrician #1, so you decided to try others and there is just one opposite where you stay. Yay! .. only to find out that it might be the wrong choice afterall. *sigh* The doctor actually asked me to wean my son off breastmilk now. WTF? What type of paediatrician asks such a thing of a pro-breastfeeding mother? Weren't they suppose to encourage it instead?

New toy for the 6 month old

Jaden is having his foul mood days lately. Might be due to him teething, so he gets irritated easily OR its just his temper. Short fused boy. Must have taken after his father.

Lately, he prefers to be carried in a standing position and he bounces whenever he cans. He no longer wants to sit for long. He prefers to stand and bounce bounce like a little kangaroo. If he lies down on the bed, then he will kick himself upwards till whatever above his head stops him from moving. His movements look like a caterpillar that Hubby and I now call him the little caterpillar. Sometimes, he is a rocking boat on his tummy. Rocking from right to left to right.

Sometimes, I tend to sleep a little later than Jaden and if he wakes up first, he will try to play by himself looking at his surroundings until he gets bored. Thats when the little boy is up to his antics. He will roll onto his tummy, and then if he could, he would slowly spin to face your sleeping face and then look at you. Ever ready with a smile if you open your eyes to look back. Sweet kan? But this wont last long. Once he knows you are awake, there is no turning back. Its get up and play and feed him time till he decides that he needs a nap, which he will sleep and leave you wide awake.

Today, we took him to The Curve to buy his first bowl because he can start to eat rice cereals. I plan to start him maybe in a day or two, maybe tomorrow.. see how it goes. While I was paying for the bowl at Mothercare, Hubby was showing him toys and according to Hubby, this toy got Jaden all excited at first sight. You know what that means -Jaden gets the toy. So I told Hubby, next time bring me out and when I get excited at the first sight of a bag I like, then he can buy for me too. The reply I got "EAT SHIT AND DIE!" *_*

So now, Jaden has another new toy to add to his collection. *sigh*
The Lamaze Musical Inchworm

o.Oh and Jaden is now longer than 60cm.. Should be around 75cm or more.. less than 80cm thats for sure but still.. My growing little baby!

Last class for Jaden

Never knew so much about the male anatomy until today. Do you know that a baby boy's scrotum doesn't really fall down till hes like 5-6 months old? and if it doesn't fall, its time to make that trip to the doc to find out why. Hmm.. things first time mothers like me without help from anyone needs to know.

Jaden did behave while he was at Sr. Choong's. We started off with washing his head because it was oozing out secretion from the cradle cap. Then Sr. Choong helped me apply some almond oil onto the affected area. o.Oh and I also found out that one cannot use baby oil to treat cradle cap because of its petroleum ingredient. To treat it, one must use vegetable oil. Thus, explains the failure in eliminating the cradle cap from Jaden's head. Jaden, then settled down to have his baby massages. Lucky baby kan? Mommy needs one badly too but too bad! *sigh* Jaden was just too engrossed with his own reflections in the mirror and kay-poing in adult's conversations.

It was rather a good day out afterall, nothing such as tantrum throwing this time. *pHew**

o.Oh and did I mention that Jaden was asked if he could be the demo-baby for the upcoming baby massage class gathering this coming June? Wonder if his father will allow it? Wonder if Jaden himself would allow it?

Good Morning peeps!

I was wrong

and I thought life would be a bit much easier after they hit their 6th month. I was wrong. Hubby and I still can't bring him out for long. Jaden just refuses to cooperate with us when it comes to being away from home even if it meant 2 hours. Jaden hates it. He will put up all type of show just to hurry us home and once he is on his little eu eu (bouncer bed) or bed, he gives you this wide satisfied smile cum smug that says it all. "I WIN AGAIN YOU SUCKERS!!!!" He is most happy when he is at home. Familiar surroundings I guess. Last night, Tommy fetched 3 of us out for dinner in his new car and there Jaden, after a while, decided that the car at the back was just too claustrophobic for his liking and he burst into tears. Luckily his rubber duckie tagged along and that distracted him for a while till we reached The Curve. Then when we were just going to dive into our food, he decided he wanted to either go home, or go for a walk so one of us have to sacrifice our food getting cold in giving him 110% of our attention while the other gobbles down.

and his feeding for the night last night really pissed me off real bad. Usually he takes about 3-4 hours before he struggles gently to want to have the next feed but last night, it was almost every 1 1/2 hour or 2 hours max before he wants his milk again. Just as I am going to fall into deep sleep, there he goes bringing up his legs banging down the bed, shifting so dramatic in his sleep, rubbing his face... *sigh* Thankfully I breastfeed him lying down but still, with the aircon on and the shirt lifted, my nose is back to its runny runny mode. AARRRGGHHHH!!!! but then again, Jaden is just too cute to stay pissed for long. Maybe its just a second or two and back to AAwwwwwww....

Got to go get ready now so that I can be early for once for his baby massage class in a while. Hopefully he will behave till we get home.. *crossing fingers tightly!*

Hes got a cap on...

but it aint a normal cap. Its called cradle cap. say what? cradle cap? WTF is that u ask? Yea, I know.. I didn't know what it was till like I've got Jaden for myself and see it with my own eyes. Its baby with kinda-like-dandruff and this cradle cap on Jaden is so stubborn. Despite him being almost 6 months old now and my various attempts in trying to treat it, it just won't go away. Sometimes it gets so bad that when he scratches it, some liquid oozes out (not like the flow of nana but still...) and it smells like rotten egg. Breaks my heart to see Jaden in such a condition.

Aunt Lin said to apply baby oil. I did -the cradle cap did get flaky and easy to rub off the head before you shampoo but it gets really red looking. The next day, as if the cradle cap was there all along anyway so no point.
BABY OIL = FAIL

Doc says try cradle cap shampoo. I bought Dentinox. No difference to Jaden's head.
DENTINOX = FAIL

Doc then gives some cream to apply twice daily. It worked at first but then, it was back looking like it had never been treated before.
DOC's CREAM = FAIL

As I am carrying him today in my laps, his head smells like there is spilled rotten eggs again. Guess the cradle cap triggered off itchiness because he just keeps scratching his head, even in his sleep.

Hubby and I made him wear mittens again because if he doesn't, he would have scratch using his fingernails till it bleeds. What can I do to cure this once and for all? The cradle cap is now starting to spread... *sigh* Would it help if I shave him bald?

The light in my life

Doesn't the smile makes whatever bad you feel go away? Doesn't it? *sigh* Life became so much better with Jaden in Hubby's and my life. I am so thankful that Jaden came into my life... The best gift ever a woman can get...

Laughter is the best medicine

Why should they be treated like that?

Its really disheartening to see some foreign workers being treated like trash. When I say foreign, I meant those from the third world country or those that are not doing better than Malaysia.

A few weeks back, two Bangladeshi men and I were waiting for the lift. I recognised them as one of the cleaners for the apartment. It was already dinner time and both of them just bought dinner to go home and eat but what pissed me off was that there was trash left at the lift on the ground floor by some irresponsible tenant. Poor souls had to picked up other's trash to throw away at the garbage area even at that time, it was after their working hours. Made me really angry.

Then there is today where I was wondering why the lift was stuck at 4th floor. I found out why soon after. A makcik and a Bangladeshi were picking up those irresponsible tenants' trash which they just leave at the lift lobby area because they know there will be someone going to pick it up for them. Sometimes I think these people should just get the taste of the medicine themselves to realize that others do not need to be treated like that. The cleaners were stuck in the lift with three trolleys FULL OF TRASH and the smell is just .. yeah, you can scrunge up your nose and say it again.. its really smelly. Poor souls, although its in their job description but still, they don't have to be treated like they are suppose to PICK UP YOUR TRASH! and to imagine that the pay they receive is less than those irresponsible ones. Sometimes I think these people that works in the cleaning and garbage expertise should be paid as much as an executive out there.. at least..

So so angry!

Milestones at his own pace

I thought I was the only one but THANK GOD for the blogging mothers, I discovered that I am not the only one who faces such a dilemma. Babies who are breastfed exclusively from the breast tends to rejects bottles too. So there will always be all sorts of tricks to get their baby to learn how to accept bottles. As for Jaden -nah, he is too stubborn to even want to accept new things unless it includes the word P L A Y.

Of late, I have been reading more and more on blogs by mothers instead of those who are blogging about nothing but fashion, look-good, new hang out places, events and all sorts. I prefer to read about the developments and milestones each kid achieve so that I can learn from the mistakes or right teachings of other mothers. Its like a world where you share the tips on how to and how not to do with/to your child.

I also learnt that most formula fed babies tend to be overweight compared to those breastfed. Although breastfed babies might look under nourish compared to those obese little babies but then you know, that they are actually healthy so well, health is all that matters!

Now that Jaden had discovered that he could tummy time by himself without having mommy to turn him over each time, he has made another new discovery. His latest discovery, HIS LEGS! HE HAS TWO LEGS and TOES THAT CAN WRIGGLE WRIGGLE! yea, he just discovered them like not long and he keeps putting them up in to the air so he can check them out. Yeap, its there alright.. and then 5 minutes later, yeap! His legs are still there... *gRin* Soon he is going to turn over and learn how to be on fours and that is when the real headache starts.

Some of my friends' child which is just about a month or two older already knows how to stand and it seemed that their development milestones is a month or two faster than Jaden but then again, those babies are girls. Maybe boys do take their own sweet time to play and play first. There is this 6 month old baby girl who can already stand. Jaden is going to be 6 months old and he is just turning onto his tummy. I have no worries about Jaden picking these tricks slower than the girl because there is this boy who just turn 8 months, well, he just learnt how to stand so guess I will just stick to my theory that boys do take their time to grow up. No pressure no pressure for my Jaden. As long as he is happy! Can't say that he is a slow learner too because Hubby and I as the parents is to put to blame if that is the reason so. We didnt know that we could make him sit up or let him practise sitting and let him hold his own head when hes about 3 months. We started out slow but look at the achievement today. I am already proud of him so well.. =)

Just another Sat

Ever noticed how if you only subscribe to Variety package, Sports channels, Discovery & Learning channels, there is absolutely nothing to watch when it comes to the weekend? It got so bad to the point that Hubby and I have to resort to DVD to keep us sane throughout the weekend. Ok, maybe its just me to keep sane by watching DVDs coz Hubby has football to watch but still right? So not worth the money paid!!!

Talked to my sister yesterday and guess what I found out? She is expecting a BOY!! Supposedly she and David had chosen a name -Howard Au-Yong Hao Wen. Hmm.. not very creative a name for Howard but then again, it aint my son so none of my business. BUT BUT BUT I am so excited! My sis is already in her 19th week of pregnancy. Next week will be her 20th and that means half way there. Jaden is going to be 'kor kor' to little Howard!

Next month is going to be my first anniversary with Hubby. I wonder if he will remember that but I am sure he will remember that Jaden turns 7 months old but ours? Nah.. it will prolly skip his mind but I dont care. I am only looking forward to a date now and that is 28th Sept 2008. =)

Jaden is already outgrowing most of his 3-6 months clothings. Now he wearing those big ones that his godmothers bought. The little boy is sure growing fast and tall. Memang that boy is a tall one coz everybody that sees him says he is long. Well, height is good for a boy... *gRin* aahh.. anything lah as long as he is healthy!

o.Oh and did I mentioned that eversince I became a mother, I have been having lots of bruises here and there on my legs? Reminds me of myself when I was a little girl then, always running and knocking into things and getting these bruises. This time, its knocking into edge of the bed, Jaden's drawers and bed and computer table and lots more. *sigh* So 'bruise prone' at the moment! Okies.. I hear Jaden trying to stiffle a cry now.. got to go company him now..

Hairy frustrations!

CHUNKS AND CHUNKS AND CHUNKS OF HAIR JUST DROP OFF ME LIKE IT DOES NOT BELONG THERE. CHUNKS AND CHUNKS OF HAIR OF MINE CAN CLOGGED UP THE WHOLE INDAH WATER FLOW SYSTEM. CHUNKS AND CHUNKS OF HAIR DROPPING OUT AT THIS RATE AND I WILL BE BALD IN NO TIME.

so whats the use of complaining and not do something about it right? well, lets see what I can do about it. Go for a haircut like what Wei Ling suggested and I think that is absolutely a very very good idea BUT it all comes back down to only one problem and its a major major one.

How am I suppose to leave my son for two hours (provided the hairdresser is skillful and not take 4 hours to do a head) when the little boy whenever wherever would feel like wanting to have a meal at his own time? REMEMBER THIS -he refuses bottles or formula milk. ONLY BREAST MILK FROM THE BREAST! So how?

Arrghhh!! Frustration frustrations! Anyway thought of a few hairstyles and I need opinion. Which one you think will suit me more?

There it goes splat splat splat**

How would you like it if you woke up early in the morning to be greeted by poo being squeezed right out of a butthole and went ---------> swoosh ---------> and then >spLat< onto the other side of the room? Well yea, just had that this morning, like a *WAKE UP MOMMY!* call from Jaden.

Nyways, the previous post I was just saying that Jaden already knows how to flip over on his own which he enjoys doing over and over and over again until he refuses to sleep. He rather flips and flips which do get to a point where you wish he would just suddenly yawn and then sleep by himself instead of you lying beside him and seeing him cry in frustration because you hound his space. *sigh* and what my friend, susukingkong said, there is more to come. Wait till the day he learn how to crawl, situp and then want to walk then run..

Jaden has gone back to the days where he requires feeding almost every 3hours now even when he is sleeping. No longer the long night sleep. WHYYYYYY? Each feed always last till about 40-45 minutes to be just sure that he is kinda filled up instead of just milk sips.

Jaden's naps are now getting less. He refuses to sleep so what can I do? Its like his time is now 12am-230am (where he would either go to sleep or struggle till 230am to sleep) wakes up at about 4am / 7am / 930am for feeds / change diaper.. then if I am lucky, he would sleep till 1230pm or 130pm then feed before taking him out of the room and let him watch his sesame street vcd which he loves.. then talk or play with him till he feels sleepy around 430pm or 5pm, which he will nap for half an hour before he wakes up for feed again, then bath, then feed again till he naps for another hour or so, then he plays till about 9pm which he will without fail sleep for almost 2 hours.. dunno why but nothing can wake him up and then he plays and plays and plays till 12am again.. the cycle continues...

So well, if all those pregnant ladies asks me what to expect and is having a baby difficult, well, my advise would be sleep all you can while you are still pregnant. Go out as often as you can, pamper yourself silly coz the day the baby arrives, you are pretty much confined to home if you are taking care of the baby alone. *gRin* BUT BUT BUT having a baby is the best thing ever happen. To be able to see them grow, learn from you and smile at you.. best!

Good and Bad surprises @ 4am

Jaden was sleeping fine till at about 4am on Sat night and he woke up crying. Nothing Hubby and I did could calm him down. He was just crying away like he was in pain. We suspected he was having colic. Both Hubby and my heart dropped. It was so painful to see him cry and suffer in pain like that, and he couldnt exactly tell us where the pain is so we can help him eased it. After some time, Hubby let him sit up and rock him gently on his lap, while the little boy burped and farted away. The motion calmed him down and made him feel better and when Hubby passed him over to me, the boy shat a little while farting. At least those fartings, burping and ter-shat made him ok but never again, shall I want to see this nightmare happen.

Last night, while Hubby and I were just going finishing up a DVD, we heard Jaden gave a cry from the room. We thought he had nightmares, so as usual, it would be me going into the room to calm him. Unless I fail at doing so, then its Hubby's turn. However when I went in, I was shocked to see Jaden in the state he was in. Shouting for Hubby to hurry into the room, there Jaden was trying to flip over but he got his one hand stuck underneath his tummy which his attempt to turn over to his tummy failed miserably. Jaden had spinned himself from a 12 o'clock position to a 5 o'clock position and was trying to do tummy time on his own at about 4am. Usually if he wakes up and finds himself all alone in the room, he would have cried out loud for us but NO.. not this time. This time, he decided to explore his abilities and skills in doing his own tummy time without parent supervision. *sigh* My boy I tell you. Scared the living lights out of Hubby and I.

So well, now as you know it, Jaden is able to spin clockwise by himself, move sideways on his back by using his legs to push his body up and the latest, his attempts at doing tummy time on his own, which he can but needs the help of adjusting his other hand which always get stuck underneath his tummy. So proud of him.. learning fast eh?

Can you spot the difference?

Somebody had a haircut, and no clothes to change in to after that so he had to wear Aunty Yvonne's baby-t which looked like a dress.. *sigh* poor boy!

Box cut

Its been ages since I blogged but with Hubby fixing up his new comp and all, it was too 'mafan' to even want to start up the comp. Lots of waiting and stuff so I decided I was just too lazy to even sit down in front of the comp. But I must say that the colours produced by this comp seemed softer and nicer. Hubby said its much vibrant.. maybe.

Jaden had a haircut yesterday. Took him to Aunt Lin's and she snipped away the two sides and now he looked kinda different. Hubby says he looked like a naughty boy and he has much more hair compared to when he had his two sides of hair that refuses to fall off. We also saw Suan Suan, a baby who Aunt Lin is taking care of, who is just 5 days older than Jaden but looked as if he is 5kg heavier than Jaden. Suan Suan's thighs are like double of Jaden. Jaden looked so skinny sitting beside Suan Suan. They didn't seem to know how to play with each other yet but well, at least they did looked at each other and one tried to hand out his hand and the other tried to kick the other. *sigh* babies!!!

If Hubby and I said that Jaden is a ganas boy, Suan Suan is even more ganas. That boy's temper is far worst than Jaden in terms of crying for what he wants. At least Jaden gives warning signs before he go full blast crying mode.

Bought him a rubber duckie much to his likings and also a smaller teether for him to bite. He has finally learn how to hold his teether yet at times he prefers to put it just in front of him on his shirt and try to bite it without holding on to the teether. Lazy little boy!

Time really flies by fast. Its going to be almost 6 months -1/2year since I last gave birth. My sister is going into labor in August. Before we know it, she prolly have one screaming and crying out of her and Jaden is going to be a one year old. Oh my Oh my! Have quite a lot of pictures to put up but well.. kinda lazy at the moment. Shall do it next time.
