Have you ever?

Have you ever feel that you might not be able to live till you see your grandchildren gets married?

Earlier this year on, I was talking to one bestfriend of mine, telling her how I think that I might not be able to live long. First and foremore, I don't know my medical history -tracing back to my family tree hence I am in the dark about my health. All I know is that I have had sinusitis since young and well, one thing leads to another.

As some might know from my facebook status, that I have been complaining that my sense of smell and taste has completely disappeared officially on 31st May 2011 after I fell sick on Monday, the day before and even when the flu had gone, there was the persistent sore throat that comes and go and well, guess now it ended up with me coughing really badly till my vocal cords are swollen.

I have officially lost my voice on Sunday itself. The coughing was so bad and it hurt that I had to make an emergency appointment with the ENT specialist at Damansara Jaya Specialist Centre yesterday afternoon. TMC's appointment was full till Friday and there was no way I could wait till Friday to find out what is wrong with me.
He gave me a thorough check on my nose and down my throat with the probing light stick, which he made me say EEEEEE and all that came out of my throat sounded like AAAAHHHHHH .. such big difference from EEEEEEE right?

I was sent home with a week of antibiotics, a med and an inhaler and we will see how it goes in a week's time which I have to return for further checkup. I sure hope we get to see an improvement though but somehow I highly doubt so for my smell and taste. Lets just hope my vocal cords will be ok by then. I am advised to rest my voice as much as possible so now, I am in my muted form.

Hubby says somehow he likes me muted. *sigh* Just that I can no longer order food and all that and I have to rely on Hubby to make all the orders. Hubby also commented that Jaden would be so happy to get a scolding break from me ... so its back to controlling my temper and closing one eye so I don't get angry and want to shout at Jaden.

and then, I got so emo today after I went online and check possible causes of my diagnosis and came out with a few that really gives me the chill. Worst case scenario might be due to tumor, either at the throat, nasal or brain.. made me cry thinking not because I am scared but because Jaden is still so young and what would these two boys be doing without me in the house...

*shite* I am tearing up again so I might as well leave the comp for a while and go do some other stuff to get my mind off these.

Just in case, if you are thinking of calling me to ask me how I am, don't bother. As for now, I only reply to sms and you know the reason why. =)

Parents in Town

Mommy came down to KL on Monday, the day Hubby left with WernShen and Justin and went to Taiwan for Computex 2011.

Brought her to eat lunch before coming back home and boy, did she immediately go to work as soon as she put down her bags and got briefed by me about switches, water pipes and doors.

Dad came down and joined her on Thursday and I brought both of them to HoiPeng seafood at ss2 as a compensation for both their birthday dinner. Since mommy has always been saying how she wants to eat crab, I ordered 2 sweet sour crabs, fried mantou, kamheong lala and belacan kangkung. Lets just say both my dad and mom was uber please with all the dishes, of course they were most satisfied with the crab and the fried mantou that went very well with the sweet sour sauce.

For me, it was damn satisfying for me to watch the smiles on their faces.

Unfortunately, Jaden fell sick on the night that dad reached so I could not bring them places the next two days. Instead, both of them were helping me out while I just concentrate on Jaden. Mom cooked a whole pot of chicken porridge for me, and dad driving my mom out for dinner and buying me back dinner so I don't starve. The best thing was, they did not even call to ask what type of food I wanted them to tapao for me, but mom always made the right choice. *sigh* Parents do really understand what their children like and want, don't they?

I wake up to a cleaned house every morning, spick and span. Not a speck of dust in sight. Everything that I asked for is put right in front of my face in a jiffy. Boy! Mom can really move fast. Dad, on the other hand, was helping me making sure that Jaden drinks his water every other five minutes until Jaden runs away or voiced his displeasure.

Jaden, has an instant bond with my dad but he needs to warm up to my mom because he has not seen for a bout a year now. In the end, the little boy stole his grandparents' hearts by planting both of them with kisses before they left back to Penang.

I took them out for a dimsum breakfast before dropping them off at the bus station. It really felt like the old days where we, three sans Jaden would have our weekly Sunday dimsum but this time round, its me footing the bill and asking them to order and take whatever they like.

Finally, I got to do my duty as a daughter, and well, Simon has a part in it too, and that was giving both of them their 2011 birthday present and compensation for me not being there with them this Chinese New Year. *sigh*

I really don't know when will I be able to meet up with my parents like that again and have the luxury of staying so long with them but I sure did enjoy my week with them when they were here.

Came back to the house feeling rather empty, no mother asking me what I am up to and all that.. but well, not for long before the doorbell rang in the afternoon and the man comes back from his weeklong holiday too, from Taiwan.

So, for now, its back to routine work again .. =p

Baby Fever

Yesterday, baby boy's mood was rather cranky. He would seem to cry for no apparent reason. At first I thought he might have not got used to his grandmother being here with us but then, when I touched his palms at night, it was warm and that is how I could tell that baby boy was down with fever.

It is one sure way to confirm if baby boy is sick because his palms will be really warm, followed by his forehead.

The sick boy was sticking to me like glue the entire time he was not feeling well. Holding on to my hands, hugging me to sleep and making sure I was staying in sight of him. The moment I get out of sight, he would come finding for me.

Luckily my parents are here with me.

My mother is an angel for helping me cook a whole pot of yummy chicken porridge for the boy and also making sure the house is comfortably clean.

My dad was put in-charge to helping me take care of Jaden, seated at the backseat of my car when I was driving him to see the paedaetrician and keeping Jaden out of the sun. The heat is crazy today!

Well, I need not even have to say how both my parents have been chasing Jaden with drinking water each opportunity they can get. Its a good thing because Jaden really needs to drink lots and lots of water.

I did have the suppository at hand last night but since Jaden woke up with really flushed cheeks and quite warm a temperature at the forehead, I decided its best to take him to consult with a paed as tomorrow is a public holiday and should the condition did not improve today, I would have been a headless chicken tomorrow trying to source for medicine for Jaden.

Had a big runaround going to two paed's clinic only to find them closed! Pissed the shit out of me and thats when I decided to take Jaden to TMC's paed instead. Hospital paeds are a plenty and they don't close for holidays right? Well. luckily I took Jaden to see the paed.. if not, I also wont know that Jaden's temperature is heating up till 38.9 .... *sigh*

Poor boy.. from 19kg, he has dropped right back to 17kg, which is quite worrying for me. He is not supposed to be losing weight. Oh boy! I really feel like a failure mother, not being able to make sure Jaden stays healthy when Hubby is away from home.

Will continue to monitor Jaden really closely tonight again. Please let the boy recover as soon as possible. Can't bear to see him sick like that. Breaks my heart real bad! :(

Partied like its 1999

Saturday 21 May is a date I will not be forgetting for a very long time as it was the day, most of my dearest college mates gathered together to witness the beautiful union of my ex-housemate Kelvin to Alva.

Linaree and I met up early in the morning for breakfast and got our hair done at Hartamas. After sending her back to Banyan, where she was putting up for the nights she was down in KL, I hurried home, changed into my dress and slab on some ICI on my face. Joy was already waiting for me downstairs and SueKingKong was around the corner ready to pick both of us girls up to the wedding luncheon.

Everybody was there by the time we three girls reached. Doing what we do best, noisy as ever and well, with wine in our hands, the rest was history.

(L) to (R) clockwise from standing to sitting :: Z, Clem, Linaree, Joy, Kelvin, VeeMei, Lujoo, M, RachelLian & SueKingKong

Clements must be thinking Linaree got a bunch of crazies, with me and my flying food around the plate, instead of having the waiter to pour us wine each time our glasses empties, we demanded for the bottle to be put permanent at our table.

My girlfriends being bitchy to the poor waiter who attempted to take away their bowls of sharkfin soup, oh boy, it was laughter all the way at our table and SueKingKong stuffing Clements with prawns.

Our table, table 5, yamseng-ed the loudest, and longest and the best thing was, it was a table filled majority with girls and only two men. That is how loud we were, and how crazy we all are, with the wine in our bloodstream. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously, of course, with the historican, SueKingKong, snapping away every picture she could get.

Finally taking a group picture with VeeMei and RachelLian whom we have not seen in donkey years, and well, what can I say, completed that afternoon of madness.

Kelvin’s wedding was a bomb and that was made possible because of the sotong gilas at table 5.

Congratulations to you Kelvin and your wifey, Alva, and of course thanks for enabling us , the sotonggilas, to come together on your day.

So what happens next after the wedding luncheon? Everybody goes home... end of story?

NO... that would have been really sad for all of us who hardly gets the opportunity to meet up like that, wouldn’t it?

OF COURSE we had plans for the night, dinner together and then drinks after.. which the drinks led on to all of us reaching our respective homes at 530am in the morning and waking up feeling like some old croaks the next day.

Hubby was nice enough to help babysit Jaden for me the whole day without complaining and rushing me home. Thank you!

But well, I did come home after the wedding luncheon to bathe Jaden and cook him his dinner and supper before I left again with my friends.

Took Linaree. Clements and Lu to go have dinner while Zairynn went on to have her dinner with Tanya and Joy at Bangsar. We were separated into two cars / two groups but all managed to reached Borneo Baruk Club almost the same time and that was when the real party began.

We opened Absolut Vodka, had shots and just partied on crazy. Crazy till Clements finally loosened up and got up and started dancing.

Moved on to Asian Heritage Row after Borneo closed and mamak later to let everybody sober up more and feed their hunger.

:: this is me begging to go home after a loooong night out ::

Boy, came home at 5am.. and thankfully it was SueKingKong that drove as she is not a drinker =designated driver. I can imagine my fun cut into quarter if I were the designated driver.. but well, lets just say Saturday was fabulous mad and I missed all these crazy college moments.

(L) to (R) :: Joy, Z, SueKingKong, Tanya, M & Linaree

It was really like college days relived but well, everybody paid their dues the next day. The aftermath of self-destruction by going all out the whole day with alcoholic drinks in our system.

We all raised our white flags and said, we are too old for this shit but well, if we have a chance to do it again, I am sure we will jump into it without any hesitation. =)

Bestie in Town

Gwen is back again in my part of the town yesterday. She made a one day stopover in KL to see her new baby nephew and stayed over at my place.

It feels like I have not seen her forever, when I have just saw her in January for her wedding.

YuMay and I went to the airport to pick both Gwen and YC, who had just returned from Penang and off we went to Julian's house to visit the baby.

Baby Daryl was gorgeous. Sweet-nature and well, I just love babies so it does not really matter to me if they are crying or pooing, they are equally as cute. Couldn't hold back in wanting to hold the baby in my arms. I missed the days when they weigh less than 10kgs anyway ... Jaden just grew up so fast in an instant it seems and now I missed those baby days but I am sure I will be seeing more rabbit babies this year, thanks to cousins and friends who are going to be mothers soon.

Dylan was also very cute. He was supposed to be sick but he didn't look or act it. In fact, he recruited Gwen as a new member in his boys-only clubhouse. It was so cute looking at him pulling Gwen and parking her inside his clubhouse while he goes about doing his own thing in the small little house. He was just satisfied having Gwen inside the house with him. So darn cute! and with his woahhhhhhhh expression. Priceless!

Then off YuMay and I went to pick Davie up for dinner while Gwen went in Julian's car to the restaurant first. Surprisingly, the jam at 6-730pm was pretty ok. No hair-pulling moment.

and well, of course, us pigging out at the crabs for dinner. Mmm.. I pretty much was very happy keeping quiet during dinner while conversations were taking place, as I was busy stuffing the yummy dinner down me tummy. *burp* Satisfying and it did not just end there. Julian took us to SS2 Mall to buy Chatime tea.. I had freshmilk grass jelly and it freaking AWESOME! Think that will be one of my favourite place to go buy a drink from now onwards until I discover a better place. Snowflakes is just so-so to me and now that I have discovered Chatime, FABULOUS!

Julian sent three of us back to my place, and boy, we were all tired out by then. The married couple spent some time with Jaden -Gwen teaching Jaden how to play Smurfs on her iPad and well, YC trying to tell Jaden that Arsenal is the best football club in the whole wide world when SimonYap was out playing Dota.

We all turned in for bed nearing 2am and woke up at 8am the next. Our breakfast plan failed kao kao as OldTown was still not opened yet when we went down at 830am. So we walked opposite and had a drink each thats all.. and soon after, YuMay reached at 930am to picked them up to the airport. The sweet girl, YuMay, even bought a drink for me that really made my day.

I missed all them even before they left my apartment grounds. *sigh*

I have a feeling I will not be seeing Gwen for quite some time after she goes back to Melbourne as there are many stuff taking place for them there this year... :(

Drama-rama

The weather has been really hot like mad for the past one/two weeks and everyone on twittersphere/facebook was complaining about the heat.

Then, just one day, a really bad smell came hovering by just right at my apartment area. One could smell when the balcony door was opened, or when you stepped right out from the lift.

It smelt as if a perpetual garbage truck was parked right outside the door.

After three days of enduring that odor, Hubby went down to the management office to file his complaint. Asking the management to do a search for the source of that smell.

Many things ran through our mind whenever we caught a sniff of that smell. Both of us suspected that something might be dead but well, of course a dead body did cross our mind but well, how likely could it be like CSI case right?

The next day, Friday 13th, the management sent two people to go source for the smell and they were going from door to door around my floor as they said the smell was pungent most at my floor area.

The next thing I know was that when I was doing my dishes, I heard police siren. Then peeping out of my kitchen window, I saw lots of policemen on the floor below mine.

Told Hubby about it and boy, it sent the shivers down my spine. Our suspicions were confirmed.

There was really a dead body below. The poor deceased man has been dead for days, and with the heat, of course it hasten up the decaying process.

Management fellow managed to find out after following a trail of flies leading to that house.

Poor man was living alone when he had medical issues that left him dead in his own house without anyone knowing.

The drama that unfolded during this Friday 13th really gives me the chill when I think of it yet part of me feels sad for how the man's life ended.

Supposedly his family, landlord has been contacted and proper burial has been given.

God bless his soul. May he now rest in peace.
