Just around the corner...

It has rather been a whirlwind of happenings in our (my family) life lately. We are now accommodating ourselves to these changes and hope that it would turn out better. Not to say that we had a bad one but just that it could be better. Why not strive to be better than to stay stagnant all the time right? There has to be a push to want to achieve more anyway!

Chinese New Year will soon be here. Aah.. the family celebrations. I can still see this little girl getting so excited over CNY, her parents taking her to buy new clothes. Her new clothes must consist of at least 2-3 new shirts / blouses, a pair of jeans, a pair of shoes, a skirt or two and of course a new pair of pyjamas to wear on CNY eve. A tradition! A new haircut...Then always the favourite part of a kid, looking forward to collect her red packets and counting them, smiling all the way to the bank. The family get-together for CNY eve dinner, the firecrackers after.. tv sessions with the whole family. Life could not be more wonderful eh?

but..

now this little girl is all grown up. She has not been celebrating family dinners at her parents' hometown for quite some time. It has been a quiet affair for the past two years, then driving down to meet up to make the customary visits and back straight home to where she belong -the island. CNY eve has been celebrated with friends at the strike of 12, drinking. The days after was also celebrated with friends at pubs..

This year, this girl would no longer be back on the island, or her parents' hometown to have her family dinner.
This year, this girl would be at her in-laws having her first CNY dinner with the in-laws with her son, getting red packets instead of her. She would be giving out instead of receiving now. Joy to the children around her then... but a piece of her will always miss the good times she had shared with her side of her family back up in the North. The relatives she has, plentiful, none could imagine. Just imagine, her maternal grandfather has 13 children, so do the math of the cousins she has and nieces and nephews she has... paternal side, grandpa has 5 children... hmm.. its really a one big happy family shes got back there...

The little girl, as you guys would have guessed by now is yours truly but this year, I don't feel the festive mod kicking in. No excitement to go shopping for new clothes, or a new hairdo. Hairdo prices would have sky rocketed by now... so I wait. I always wait.. clothes? Don't feel attractive enough to want to dress up.. *sigh* It will be quite a quiet one for me this year..

Me going through your fridge for the mandarin oranges. Not to mention our eldest uncle singing karaoke at your house.. hahahahah.. o.Oh and the gambling sessions in your room..
