Magic Number 5

Dearest Jaden my son,

Mummy would like to first and foremost, apologize to you for all the times mummy had been superbly mean to you, scolding you and threatening you with the cane but do bear in mind, its all done in the name of love -in hope that you will grow up to be a well-behaved good young man.

I can't believe that you are already 5 years old. I wished time would slow down a bit so I will still get a chance to baby you. You have already grown to be half my height and weight and you are only 5. There is only a few years before you tower over me, my dear child.

This year, your birthday was nevertheless anything less than before. Exactly like how the past years have been, we celebrated your birthday with lots of joy and pride, celebrating your growing up and milestones you have achieved so far.

Kai-Yeh, Gyn and PeiSan came over to celebrate with you your, sharp at 12am on 28th September, singing you the Happy Birthday song which you enjoyed and clapped to it. Reminded me of when you turned 2 years old. How you looked at each and everyone in the eyes happily. This year, you did an additional thing, you got to blow out your own birthday candles !!

Mummy baked you a little teddy-bear's head cake as you were into bears this year. The bear's eyes and mouth were decorated with blueberries with a strawberry nose. You did like the cake and ate quite a bit. :)

It is a given thing that you will always have a birthday party every year. This year, we held the party in our own house, this time much more intimately with only a few friends.

Your party started at 730pm, and while guests start trickling in one by one, you were having fun manipulating them to play with you and keep you company by watching all your DVDs.

You were casually dressed in your Maroon skinnies and white singlet, looking everybit a urban fashionista. At least that is what Mummy thinks about you.

Mummy cooked baked pasta and roasted chicken for you as your birthday dish while the guests are served the most unhealthiest food ever, KFC and Domino pizzas. Well, at least Mummy also baked chicken drummets for the guests to munch on. :) This year's party was indeed very much a chillax one.. no pressure, no running around, and no chasing you around. You were very very comfortable having this party in your own territory, little one.

Daddy and Mummy gave you a bicycle for your birthday and seeing you get on the bicycle brings tears to my eyes. You have indeed grown up so much ...

Mummy commissioned a GFCFEF (gluten / casein / egg free) cake for you in the shape of Sesame Street's Baby Bear as that is your current favourite.

This year, you got to blow out candles on three separate birthday cakes, two of your special diet cakes and one for the guests, which Mummy got from Food Foundry - Vanilla Mille Crepe.

Mummy loves how your eyes lit up each time you hear people sing you the birthday song. You were the superstar of the day and living up to each of that moment, having things your way.

Haidn, your baby god-brother, celebrated your birthday with you for his very first time too.. I sure hope that you both will grow up to be close to each other like how brothers should be.

You got a lot of hugs and twirls from your birthday guests.

I hoped you enjoyed your birthday party as much as Mummy enjoyed planning and preparing it for you.

I love you baby boy, and please do let Mummy walk with you and hold your hands because there is no one else that Mummy loves greater other than you.

Lots of love, hugs and kisses,
your mother.
