My Wheezing Boy

I woke up at 830a this morning. Slept at about 415am after chatting nonsense with Hubby, Iz and Gynnette in our living room the night before. The boys were having some football watching marathon and I could not fall asleep, so might as well.

Ok, back to 830am.. It was Jaden who woke me up. The heavy breathing, with wheezing sound that sounded bad to my ears, and those phlegm sounds when he coughs. The boy was in tears, and the runny nose, was dripping like waterworks with the drips dripping down on me when I carried him out of the room. That was when I decided to get him to Dr Altaf without waiting for a day or two to see recovery. Getting my son back to his pink of health was more important at the moment or at least, after consulting the doctor, I would know what is going on with my son.

Made a call to the clinic to confirm Dr Altaf is in and voila, after washing my face, and changing the boy's diapers and clothes, off we went to the clinic. There was 7 children waiting before us, and well, that took up nearly 45 minutes of waiting time. Yes! Dr Altaf is very popular among parents and their children. He is a good paedaetrician after all.

Dr Altaf listened to Jaden's breathing and found that his wheezing is quite bad. It was very noisy and heavy inside and suggested for nebulizer treatment. Alas, the 45 minutes wait was already tiring for the little boy, who woke up at 830am so Dr suggested to give meds orally first but if the condition does not improve in 48 hours, we would have to bring Jaden back for the nebulizer.

While I was there at the clinic, I took the opportunity to ask Dr about Jaden's speech milestones and he told me that Jaden is still too young to tell but I need to do repetitive 20 words with him and see if there are any improvement in 6 months. Pictures and repetitions till the boy recognizes and say it out loud. Praying hard that there will at least be 3-5 words at least when 6 months come.. shall start with

  1. BALL
  2. EYES
  3. APPLE
  4. SHOE
  5. CAR

Feeding meds orally to Jaden requires a two man job. One to hold him down and one to inject the 3.5ml dosage into the mouth. 3 x 3.5ml (twice daily for two and three times for another one). All together three med syrups to take.

The look Jaden gave both Hubby and I. One word = BETRAYAL *sigh* All the things we'd do to get him well again.

So now, its more of a rest at home time for both Jaden and I till he recovers. Letting him sweat it all out, which I noticed hes been sweating a lot out since taking the meds, the runny nose not so runny anymore.. phlegm is still there, hoping for the med to do its course by breaking down the phlegm and yea, making him drink lots of fluids too.

I really hate to see Jaden fall sick or feel unwell. Its heartbreaking.. So well, girlfriends, no outings of anykind till the boy recovers and by then, I am sure both he and I will be enjoying our break back in Penang. =)

Alone on a Sunday

We thought we were late for class, but there were no one in sight playing in the class when we got there. Jaden was the only student there today and he got 100% attention from Teacher Siew Ming.

Sean, the boy joined the class yesterday instead of today, Olivia is away on vacation with her family, Wen Jie was still sleeping and Ashraf will only be joining in January after the whole month wedding weekends in December.

He was a happy boy today running around, teacher helping me out making him complete the obstacles two rounds. To make him finish the whole obstacle activity, I have to hold the colourful balls in front of him, just out of reach so he is driven to go over up, down, in and out to get to the balls. *tiring*

Since there weren't any kids today, Teacher Siew Ming told me to bring him again next Saturday for replacement so he can also interact with other kids. So it will be like an extra class for him. Yay! I am sure Jaden would enjoy it. So that could only mean Jaden will be attending two classes two weeks in a row as in the middle of the month, he would be going back to Penang with me so class would be pushed forward -19th Dec and then 20th Dec.

Jaden turned 26 months old yesterday but he has not achieve much in terms of vocabulary milestone. He refuses to speak or follow what we are saying. He still babytalks and that worries us. The teacher told me by 2 years, the kids should have at least have a 3 syllabus vocab such as "I don't want!" but Jaden is still going nen nen nen nen da da da da ta ta ta and occasionally if hes in the mood, bye or daddy. Thats all. No much change from months ago.

Jaden do understand what we are saying to him but he just refuse to talk. Is there anyway to make him talk or at least want to talk? Going to give him till three years old to pick up more words and hopefully in a month or so, he will at least say one new word.

The little boy is down with a bad runny nose and cough. His body was feeling a little warm after class today and I am on a lookout for any fever signs. At the moment, just making sure he downs lots of fluids into the body and will be cooking him minced chicken porridge after posting this up. Got to keep him rested at home, at least for the whole week till he recovers, which also mean me being locked up in the house with him. Well, its ok for me as long as he gets well.

Last night, we went to Carnaval Churrascaria for dinner. This time round, I made reservations and since its a public holiday weekend, nobody around in the city, there were lots of empty tables around. Anyway, got to try out that place which well, serves lots of meat. You have got to be a meat eater to go there and enjoy the rump steak, garlic beef, lamb shoulder, chicken, dory fish, prawns, pineapple and chicken ham. I love the garlic beef best.. followed by the rump steak, pineapple , chicken ham. The garlic bread was so so only but well, with the two accompanying sauce on the table, everything is good. =) Drinks of course do not come cheap. Its a buffet place, and if I am not mistaken, is RM55++ per person.

Wondering about the place? Its at Damansara Jaya -Atria there the same row as Maybank. Its a corner shop.

My tummy must not have got used to the medium rare rump steak and it got me going to the toilet at about 7 in the morning after. I remember feeling the exact way when I first had my beef steak and lamb. My tummy is somehow funny. It has to like register a certain meal for me more than once or I will suffer the churning tummyache. Same went for Shogun the last time.. That is why I always eat my steak well-done no matter what. I just can't stomach medium or rare. I like my things cooked! =) So that also means no sashimi for me. I am not a raw food person.

Parking in One U was horrendous when we left for home today after Jaden's class. I guess its a weekend ritual thing to happen in shopping malls. Thankfully we were leaving that place and not just going there.

Jaden came home and fell asleep for about 2 1/2 hours while I cleaned up the long procrastinated rabbits' room floor. *phew* So now whats left is to do the dishes, and then prepare dinner, then fold the clothes and wash another set of dirty laundry.

Soon, it will be time to start packing up some stuff to be thrown or donated away. There is just too many rubbish on my side. *must not be a hoarder!* right.. easier said than done but will be done. Well, better get my arse going now before I start to slack in whatever I must do...

Have a good weekend peeps!

Recipe from Linaree

After a day or two of not cooking, I got into the mood of wanting to try a new dish recommended by Linaree. Of all people, I asked Linaree for a recipe and she said she got to save the MSN message of me asking her for it. =) I didn't exactly follow step by step with her steps of cooking the dish but the ingredients are there.

Minced Pork & Egg Plants in Chilli Bean Paste

First I put the garlic in and fry them till they turn a little brown, put in the minced pork and a few diced chilli padi and let it cook a bit before putting in the chilli bean paste.

Let both the sauce and meat simmer together, no need to add salt already as the chilli bean paste is salty enough. Sprinkled a little pepper on the meat tho.

When the meat looks like its all cooked and infused with the paste, put in the egg plant and stir them around, till they are also covered with the sauce.

Fry them a little longer before pouring in a little water, own estimation though so that the meat and egg plant can stew together for the taste to come together.

It would be salty so I put in half a teaspoon of sugar to balance up the taste and let it stew. I

ts ready to serve once the eggplants are soft enough to eat. =)
Garnish it with spring onions if you wanna make the dish look pretty.

My next two dishes are Roasted Duck Stir-Fried with Garlic and two different types of fried eggs. One for Hubby and I and the other for Jaden. Guess which one is ours?

Roasted Duck Stir-Fried with Garlic

Fried Onion Eggs
& Cheese Omelette

What do you think of these dishes? Its a public holiday tomorrow and I can't wait for it. Got a movie to catch! *gRin*

我的驕傲

I finally found the song that I was seeking for.. a song that reminded me of the times when my girlfriend Evon was still studying in one of the college in Subang SS15.

Kuala Lumpur -through the back alleys

Fixing a craving

I have lots of food craving -be it me being pregnant or not. I just love my food and at every opportunity, I will not hesitate to eat. *sigh* that explains my growing waistline, double chin and face shape getting rounder every minute.

Xy and I went out for some girlie lunch -fixing our tomyam craving. I love spicy sour stuff. Sometimes I really do miss all the thai food I got to eat when I was just a little girl. My parents and I would go to Haadyai almost once a month for the weekend for shopping and food. Haadyai then was just like an hour drive away from my hometown -Perlis. Yea, I was raised in Perlis, moved to Penang for education and then now the city... Thai food is yummylicious!

Anyway, had a really nice bowl of tomyam at the Thai Nudle Bar and off we went to Popular to get Xy a sharpener. The trip to Popular made me RM63 poorer. =) Bought two books, one at 20% & the other at 10%. Got Jaden a book too -The Billy Goats Gruff.

Now I am eyeing the Twilight/New Moon/Eclipse/ Break of Dawn collection. It is selling at RM188.00 in Popular... hmm.. maybe I will get it after ... after.... aarrrghh.. got to save money!!!!!

Got myself The Traveller's Wife and My Sister's Keeper. Both now made into a movie but I guess books are always better than the story told in the movies.. crossing my fingers that I won't regret my purchases.

Sometimes I can be such a shopaholic. I really need to put a halt to this bad bad habit. Got to save.. got to save.. See no evil, touch no evil, see no evil..

Refusing naptime @ 6pm

and the outcome at about 9pm...

Misbehaving and New Dish for Dinner

Jaden woke up earlier than usual today, before me, at about 830am and started rolling around till I could not take it anymore. I finally took him outside to the living room at about 930am and quickly fed him his rice cereals.

Bathed him, then myself and we were out of doors at about 1120am. Hubby was supposed to come with us today but seeing him so deep immersed in his dreamland, we went ahead without him. I don't think he realized it either. *tee hee* He need the sleep to work his ass off later in the evening onwards till the next weekend comes anyway so oh wells, might as well just leave him be...

Jaden totally misbehaved today in class compared to the previous classes attended. It must be due to him getting sleepy, thus the grouchyness took over and it was all the way just him and the toys in class. He did not attempt much activities like his classmates. Today, there were two new boys who joined the class. One named Ashraf and the other Sean.

Ashraf was really well-behaved and Sean, well, somewhat just a tiny pinch better than Jaden in terms of behavior. Those two were snatching balls off each other.. *sigh* Sean took Jaden's ball after he dropped it and ran off with it. Jaden gave chase and Sean ran even faster. It was quite a funny sight but well, still have to be on my toes to keep both the boys away from each other should they end up fighting.

Bought cod fish from Jusco and I was really looking forward to try a new recipe and give Jaden some fish to eat. We have been eating meat, meat and meat and of course vege, but seafood is rarely rarely cooked in this house. Most people that knows me would know that I have a deep fear for fish. I can touch any parts of meat but when it comes to fish, I will eeked out like crazy. *shivers* But for the sake of my son, I braved myself to buy the cod fish, come home, washed it and attempt to cook it without it having any of those fishy smell.

I got the recipe from this website here, added cilantro and well, it turned out kind of well and Jaden loves it.. happy happy me! Want to see the outcome? Nah! =) Well.. it will be some time before I attempt to cook another fishy meal.. sticking to meat and vege is good for me at the moment.

My signature dish -brocolli and garlic

My Butter Garlic Cod Fish =)

My recipe? Not much different from the one I took from but I marinated the fish with salt, all Italian herbs, diced garlic and ginger, a slice of lime for the juice. Didn't have garlic powder in my kitchen so I just rub the fish with more diced garlic thats all. o.Oh make sure the fish is chilled and not frozen yah.. I heard from my friend that cooking frozen fish will emit out some kind of poison/toxic? as banned by the Ministry of Health in UK.. not sure about it but well, people say then don't do lah right?

Then I put in the butter, and then sauteed the garlic and ginger. After that, I put in the fish and pan-fried it for a minute or two before throwing in the curry leaves and a tablespoon of soya sauce. I put more than 5 leaves.. doesn't really matter. In fact, it made the dish more fragrant with more leaves. =)

Once the garlic, ginger and curry leaves looked brownish or a lil fried, I dished them out and put them aside and continued pan-frying the fish till golden brown. Then only when I finally put the fish in another plate, I poured the garlic, ginger and curry leaves on top of the fish and garnished it with coriander.

Wee!!!! There.. simple kan?

Looking forward to cooking my soba noodles soon but tomorrow, got to fix my craving and lunchtime with Xy.

Tomyummmyyum!

Rain, dinner and nothing new

It has been raining hard for the past few weeks and today was no exception. The road before the petrol station was flooded on one side, so the cars all have to go slow and move to the right lane to avoid getting water into their car engine... thus creating a bad jam from behind the curve and coming in from LDP into Kota Damansara. This jam itself has revealed at least two inconsiderate drivers who are so kiasu that they have to be in front of your car no matter what despite the jam.. *sigh* really.. something must be up their ass for them to act in such a way. ASSHOLES!

anyway.. Jaden and I will be alone at home while Hubby is going to go out with Gynnette, PeiSan, IzGrace and Alvis for 2012. I am not feeling bitter tho because I am saving my freedom for Lujain's visit in KL in December. Can't wait to meet up with the Limkokwing groupies once again.. this time just my friends and I without having to worry about Jaden. *gRin*

The wedding on Sunday has tired me out that I have been taking afternoon naps two days in a row now, partly no thanks to Aunty Flo too but preparing and travelling all the way to Banting and back can be quite tiring, especially when you have to hold on to a 2 year old kid that struggles and can't sit still without a baby chair throughout the whole dinner. Yes! The wedding dinner held in the community hall, catered by the restaurant does not provide baby chair, despite knowing families will be bringing small kids along. I really don't understand these catering business.. NO BABYCHAIRS? ONLY ONE BABYCHAIR in the whole restaurant? what bullshit!

After eating out for a few days, yesterday I decided to cook Hubby dinner -Taipan Chicken and Stir-Fry Brocolli. The boys in the house loves their brocolli, bean curd and doughnuts..

pics credited to http://shingochan.com/images/cuisine/Brocolli%20with%20Garlic.JPG

oh! Not forgetting their all time favourite too, Kentucky Fried Chicken. Its a nice change to eat home cooked food after eating out... but cleaning up is a bitch!

Well, the dinner was to compensate Hubby back for treating Jaden and I to Sushi King for lunch earlier and a trip down to Harvey Norman for some bed searching. I am searching for a King Size Bed and a nice bed frame too and I finally think I found the one I like.. just wondering if they do come in King Size.. hmm.. a little expensive tho but well, its going to something I am going to sleep on for like what? 20 years and more.. so might as well buy a good one right? Hubby says we need to get a good bed frame because I have a tendency to break beds.. mind you it didn't involve any 'activities' then. It was just Jaden and I and the bed broke when I turned.. oops! Will be looking around other furniture shops first.. Harvey Norman was just a looksee as their things are really expensive. I was really curious about one bed and how it will feel like to sleep on it as it costs nearly RM40k. Yes.. its more expensive than the car I am driving. *shakes head in disbelief!*

Some of the samples of beds and beddings I kind of like...

so princessy isn't it? If only i were still a teen or something..

Online shopping has come to a halt for me at the moment because I just can't seem to find one to my liking.. but weeks before, it was like a mad shopping spree. I go to a page and I can just find something that I like.. but these few days.. bah! Well, the good part is that I won't be spending money anytime soon unless something good comes along again.. my last purchase was this dress... what you think of it? I kind of love it.. only to discover a minor wardrobe malfunction with it.. can be solved easily but can you spot it? =)

Enough of me blabbering away like suffering from some mouth diarrhea... so till something interesting comes up or Jaden does something new.. toodles!
