My day, His day, Our day!

Yesterday 28th April is a special day to both Hubby and I. First, its Jaden's 7th month-day and secondly, its our 1st wedding anniversary.

We had Japanese while Jaden had his toys to munch on.. *gRin* Bought him Sesame Street Sillier Songs at The Movies as his 7th Month old Present.

Somehow this time round, the date didn't get me all excited as how I used to be about dates and celebrations. I realized maybe its due to me ageing. Maybe.. but well, I guess Jaden's 7th month old got me more excited than my own wedding anniversary.

This time round, we got Jaden a Jelly Train Cake for his 7th Month celebration. =)

When Jaden grows a lil bigger, maybe Hubby and I then can getaway for a couple of hours to celebrate then. *wink* But for now, some quiet quality time at home will do.

So what did I get for Hubby and I just for the sake of commemorating the wedding anniversary? =)

A Sunflower Jelly Cake ... just one.. and I ate it all.. MUAHAHAHHAHAH

Various ways

Jaden checks by himself if he teethed...

I can pry them open like this...

Or I could try to feel them with these two little thumbs of mine...

Or I will just lift up my upper lip and ask Mommy to check!!

In lightning speed

As I were standing by the kitchen sink cleaning up the dishes from yesterday, I thought maybe I should go online and blog about the tube dress I saw at The Curve's flea market that caught my eye. I absolutely fell in love with it at first sight yet I did not dare to stop Hubby to tell him so. Its not as if I could wear it out anywhere right now if I bought it but still it would not hurt to keep a few nice dresses at home right? and I was just contemplating if I should secretly hint to Hubby here and suddenly, I dropped everything I did in a flash and ran as fast as I could. You know the saying its true when they say "When you got to go, you HAVE got to go!!!"

Guess what is it that I have to do in such lightning hurry?

Thank God I ran there in time... Anyone up for a guessing game where I ran to??

(to be continued...)

Him & Her :: pressies

Guess which one goes to who ..
. *gRin*

gooooooooo-stan jalannnnnnn~

Jaden has mastered the skills of go-stan jalan in his walker instead of moving forward! How lah?? Do they all do that at first? He knows how to reverse gear, he knows how to jump jump and move to his side but I have not seen him move to his front yet.

Another milestone of his is that when he is on his tummytime, he knows how to maneuver to whichever direction he wants to. Mostly his right but well, ya, if I am sleeping at the end of the bed and he is at the head of the bed, he will somehow find his way to my side. He can slowly spin on tummy time. *sigh*

Fed him mashed bananas the other day. Just 1/4 of the small little banana and he ate it without much fuss so I am guessing he is fine with the flavor. Lately, he has been closing his mouth when the spoon comes near. Its not that he does not want to eat but he is playing with me. Its like "try to put it into my mouth if you can mother!" Just these two days I noticed. Maybe its time for some new food again I guess. Nah! Going to finish what we bought him first. Can't have him learn how to waste food at such an early age can we?

As for porridge, he still don't really like it. Maybe this time, shall cooked the scallop stock, then cook it with the porridge. Junita says her baby loves it. Maybe all babies do.. *crossing fingers real hard that they all do* He needs to master the love for eating porridge. Afterall, his mother loves porridge. =)

Can hear him shouting for me now from the room. Time for his bath anyway. So till then ciaoz~

Baby Food

Cooked Jaden his fourth round of porridge today.

RECIPE:-
1/2 Pumpkin (cut into dices)
1 Carrot (thinly sliced)
3-5 dices of chicken breast
1 handful of rice grains
3/4 slow cooker full of hot water

This is what I did. Turned out really sweet and tasty. Thought Jaden might liked this one compared to previous porridges I'd cooked. Confidently I scooped one big scoop (rice cooker's scoop spoon) of the porridge onto his tiny little starter blue bowl.
Since the bowl is that small, it looked like its one full bowl of porridge. Cooled it then tried my feeding attempts. First mouth -ok. Second mouth -he tries to push it out with his tongue. Third try - He looks down trying to avoid the spoon and had a tear in the eye. Fourth mouth with Sesame Street turned on and mother making monkey out of herself - he nearly finished the porridge. *pHew* Its a good try today! Next would probably be corn and chicken? Maybe...

So far food he tried :-
  1. Heinz First Rice Cereals
  2. Farley's Rusks (Original Flavor)
  3. Porridge with Carrots and Potatoes with dices of pork
  4. Nestle GOLD RIce Cereals with Apples and Cranberries
  5. Gerber's Applesauce Rice Cereals
  6. Heinz Mixed Vegetables
  7. Porridge with Minced Pork and Fish
  8. Porridge with Carrots and dices of chicken breast
  9. Nestle Banana Flavored Rusks
  10. Porridge with Pumpkin, Carrots and dices of chicken breast

Whale of a time

Hubby and I decided that it was time to get Jaden a walker since he did not act scared of it when put in one at Aunt Lin's. Yesterday we went to Planet Enfante at Atria Shopping Complex for the very first time. It was rather big and impressive with all sorts of colourful car seats, high chairs and baby things. I was rather impress with the Fresco Bloom and Maxi Cosi Mura.

Fresco Bloom (comes in pink and blue)
very spacy :: designer look

Maxi-Cosi Mura
(so darn cool!)

They even have RunwayM clothings there for pregnant ladies. Anyway, we went looking for walkers expecting lots of them but there were only 3. Well, without further delay we put Jaden in all three to see which he looks most comfy in. All were My Dear's brand. Is it Japanese? It looked so.. and we finally bought him this model. Its called the Whale Walker.

The reason we got him a walker instead of Bumbo Baby Sitter was because I feel that with the walker, he can also sit and if he is bored of sitting, he can walk in it. Its also quite good for him to practise putting both his feet firmly on the ground. Now, he is tiptoeing. Well, he still do not know how to push forward his walker but he can 'gostan jalan'. Hubby says maybe we should just install those reverse signal alarm for him. *gRin* It also made my feeding easier now that I do not need to carry him on my lap to feed him. So happy with the buy!

Hopefully with the help of the walker, he will learn to walk. Hubby says that Jaden has yet to learn how to sit unsupported on his own and hes already learning how to walk. So SALAH... hehehe but well, putting him in a walker is better than to leave him on the bassinet when he is out in the living room. Better to be sitting up than lying down. Afterall when he is in the bedroom, hes always lying down or doing his own tummy time.

Last night, I cooked chicken and carrot porridge for Jaden to try again but he still do not like it. After 3 or 4 mouthfuls, he did not want the spoon near him. So guess who finished the whole pot of porridge then? ME ME ME! Hubby don't like porridge at all and well, since I love to eat baby's type of porridge, put some soya sauce and a sprinkle of pepper and there is goes chomp chomp chomp down my tummy. DELICIOUS! Since he aint liking the porridge yesterday, thought I will take a day rest today from cooking porridge. Will try again tomorrow with pumpkin and chicken and carrots. Maybe he will like it then?

Introduced him to Apple and Cranberry Rice Cereals.

Rice with Apple & Cranberry – Stage 1 (For babies aged 6 – 24 months)
Rice is an ideal first cereal as it rarely causes allergies. It reduces intestinal fluid loss and helps to speed up recovery from diarrhoea. Apples are rich in pectin, which inhibits harmful bacteria and also helps to shorten the duration of diarrhoea. Cranberries are laden with antioxidant and vitamin C.

Have yet to try this one out at it was not on the shelf then. Maybe will lookout for it next time on the next grocery shopping trip.

Wheat with Oats & Prunes – Stage 2 (For babies aged 6 – 24 months)
Wheat and oats are good sources of natural fibre. Prunes are filled with good fibre that helps to facilitate bowel movement and relieve constipation.

Alrightie, baby is awake from nap.. time for me to sign off again.

One of his firsts...

The feet is still off the ground... Haven't learnt how to walk it by himself yet

So happy in the walker (needs extra back support :: see red pillow behind)

Jaden finally got his first taste of sitting in a walker. He was afraid at first, so he did not dare to put his legs on the ground until I showed him that it was alright and he was memang meant to put his legs down on the ground to move the walker. He has yet to want to move around in the walker but at least he overcome the fear in sitting in one. Very good. Now Hubby and I can go shopping for a walker!

Hello! Meet Suan Suan!

Suan Suan, who is 5 days older than Jaden was eating porridge when we arrived at Aunt Lin's. So I thought might as well let Jaden try porridge again but he absolutely HATES it! Think he still havent got used to the texture just yet. Will try again tomorrow. Going to shop for pumpkin and try cooking it with the porridge. Aunt Lin said it will make the porridge sweeter since Jaden's got a sweet tooth just like his mama. I was thinking of corn and carrots but Hubby said corn might leave husks lying around if boiled with the porridge too long and that it might choke Jaden. True? Hmm..

** September 2007 babies **
(See the difference in weight?)

Bought quite a lot of new food for Jaden to try. Got him rice cereals with apples and cranberries. Wonder if that is nice. Shall know once he tries it.. but I am sure as long as the food is sweet tasting, he would love it. Junita just gave me some tips on how to make the porridge sweeter and tastier for baby. Maybe I will try out her recipe..oh what am I saying? Maybe.. it would be definitely. Anything to make Jaden start taking porridge.

3am

Jaden woke up suddenly and cried nonstop. Nothing that Hubby and I did could calm him down. When we look at him, he cries louder. When we try to distract him, even louder. It was until that we have to slowly let him touch the things he like, then a story book, and later a breast in his mouth with Hubby making him laugh through the tiny triangle of my elbow... and only he fell asleep soon after. One and half hours of non-stop entertaining the boy. *sigh* and he slept till 1230pm today.

Jaden is becoming difficult everyday. He is getting so demanding...Sometimes it gets to the verge of annoying but then again, when he smiles and talks and touches your face gently, it melts hearts...

I wonder if every mother do go through the difficult period of an infant to a toddler? Is there more to come?

Sinusitis

Mine is so bad that sometimes I don't think I can breathe. Need to breathe through the mouth and it lasts for two-three days before it clears up and for a day or two of normalcy and back to the world of sinusitis again. My nose keeps dripping and so clogged up I can't smell anything. Luckily for Vicks, it helps a little.. only a little. I think mine is turning severe! Have one ever tried breastfeeding while struggling to keep the mucus from dripping and also trying your best to breathe?

He ate ...

... his toes today. After weeks of bringing up his feet and studying them, he finally popped his left toes into his mouth to taste while rolling around on the bed. OH! The elders have warned me about that and I actually thought it is an impossible act to do. Have you ever tried then? Bringing your toes right up to your mouth? Today, he did it... *sigh* my boy is always surprising me with new things!

I finally fell asleep last night at about 6am in the morning. Luckily my baby too slept off his morning naps easily.. till about 2-3pm.. heheheh Both of us did wake up for feed.. then back to dreamland without much effort. No more late nights.. must not have any more late nights! Hate feeling so sleepy and energy-drained for the rest of the day!

Going to wake Hubby up now. He fell asleep in front of the TV watching football yet he insists that he wants to watch AC Milan's game later at 230am. Doubt he will.. guess he will just get up and go straight to bed. *gRin*

imsonia

I am supposed to be thankful that Jaden decides to turn in early for the night. So after tucking him into bed, and lying there for a while because an intuition tells me that he is going to stir from sleep and cry for milk which he did. So after the second round of feeding him, I thought might just as well, sleep.. because that is what I needed badly after last night's ordeal. Fell asleep for a little while only to wake up again suddenly, thinking it must be about 4am now but nooo.. it was only 2am then. *sigh* Tossing and turning and finally, I came out here to blog instead. Tried reading myself to sleep with Eat, Pray & Love but it didn't work. It only make me want to finish reading the book padahal I want to take my own sweet time in digesting that book. A lovely book I must say.. Never had really taken to such books but this one is different.

I hate sleepless nights like these. I usually fall asleep easily... but lately, its Hubby that falls asleep easier than I do.

Help..

Moments of peace & quiet ...

FAT is my middle name

Have you ever tried putting a baby to bed at 9pm only to wait till 2am when he finally decides that he will sleep off on his own. *pulls hair* Jaden sometimes can get real difficult when it comes to sleeping at night but thankfully, once he is asleep soundly, it means 4-5 hours of peace before he struggles quietly for feed. I used to think that when he is about 6 months, I could sleep off the good 6 hours at least... but well, at least it aint every 1 hour or 2 hours like when he was just a newborn.

Thankfully today Hubby was really sleepy and is not disturbed at all by Jaden's cries and rolling-rounds. I got kicked by him in the process for being in his rolling rounds' way. My son I tell you.. such a powerful kicker that sometimes it stuns me for a while. I tried breastfeeding him to sleep, which did happened but as soon as I moved away from him (very slowly and quietly), the little boy opened his eyes and thought I was playing with him and there he goes again.. flipping, rolling and struggling.

Now, at this hour, here I am sitting and blogging away and babysitting my rabbits too. Can't keep them in cages 24/7 can we. They need their daily exercises...

Remember that I made porridge 2 days ago? Well.. Jaden didn't liked it. He just pushed the spoon away after 3 mouthfuls. Will try next week again then. He is only loving Heinz & Rusks at the moment.. should I just steam some potatoes and mashed it up real fine and try feeding him?

The mixed vegetables he ate made him poo-ed. ALOT! I thought he finished poo-ing (I always give 10 minutes after I hear him poo to clean up) and when I was wiping his ass.. ooh la la, Mr Poo decided to squeeze out to say hi to me. AAARRRGGGHHHHHH!!!! Luckily, I have got big paper towels spared! Have one ever wonder why does a baby's fart smells so bad? I have been farted at countless times. The worse is when you lift up the ass to wipe, and the sound comes out. The killer smells follow soon after. *faint*

I am contemplating to buy him the Bumbo Baby-Sitter. Do any mothers out there think it is a good investment? I was also thinking about buying the jumper cum walker for him but Hubby said that he read somewhere that walkers will only slow him down on learning how to walk independently. Is it true?

Now, I also have another problem.. I have to train Jaden to sleep in his own cot now. He is getting bigger and bigger everyday and co-sleeping with Hubby and I on the bed aint a good idea. Both the males wants space and there is no way the little one wants to give his dad space. Sometimes, he nearly drove his father down the bed. How on earth am I going to successfully train Jaden to do so? Or would it be like a miracle that one day when hes about 18 months old, he decides that he is brave enough to sleep on his own? There is also a reason why I need him to sleep in his own cot because ... because.....

I FREAKING BROKE THE BED INTO TWO, YES ME! SOME OF MY FRIENDS SUSPECTED IT WAS MY HUBBY'S FAULT THE BED BROKE BUT NOOOO.... I HAVE MADE THE BED COLLAPSED QUITE A NUMBER OF TIMES SINCE JADEN'S BIRTH AND JUST LAST NIGHT, I SUCCESSFULLY BROKE IT INTO TWO!

HUBBY SAYS I AM NOW THE OFFICIALLY FAT ONE IN THE HOUSE!!!!!!

okies.. laugh all you want.. its sad you know.. to be sitting on the bed and suddenly, it gave way and you hear *PLIAK* ~sigh somehow I found that hilarious too myself. =)

Porridge today for the little one

When he decides enough is enough, it also meant enough for his parents. Jaden would just wake us up no matter how by flipping around the bed like a dolphin, kicking himself upwards banging his head against the pillow like a caterpillar and throwing his hands right onto us where it hurts just to get his points across to us loud and clear. This boy I tell you.. *sigh* can sometimes drive Hubby and I nutz!

Since Hubby has a game to watch tonight, he decides that he needs more sleep than I do and somehow rather, I could not sleep anymore so I took Jaden out into the living room and put him into the bassinet and left him to watch Sesame Street while I went about to clean up pots and pans in the kitchen.

Decided then to make him porridge today. Pork+Carrots+Potatoes = Baby Porridge. The gooey one. Scrubbed clean my slow cooker pot and started chopping away the potatoes and carrots. *sigh* Started to cook the porridge sharp at 4pm and now, at 7pm its ready to be chomp chomp down by the little gangster of mine. Took a photo of it but the picture would not do any justice to the real thing because it does look all gooey and ugly but its edible and nice alright. Reminds me of childhood when my mother would make me the porridge & marmite!

Jaden is still as pissy... Cries when he is left alone not more than 2 minutes but its all crocodile tears I tell you. The moment you carry him in standing position, he gives you a laugh that sounds like "HAH! SUCKER! I WON!!"

o.Oh and guess what? Hubbys and I
bought Jaden Heinz Mixed Vegetable Puree yesterday. Fed him two teaspoonful of it today and he absolutely loves it. He was looking forward for more but I thought two teaspoonful for the first try would be enough. He can have more tomorrow.

Now the little tyke is napping away after his bath. *pHew* some me time for a while.. peace & quiet! Not for long... got to go gobbled down my macaroni and cheese (disastrous attempt) before he wakes up.. ciao ciao

Is it time?

Jaden has been really cranky and easily irritated today. He has been really 'bising' since he woke up... is his first teeth finally cutting out now? *sigh*

Some old sayings can be true...

when it comes to "Don't let the children play too much or stimulate them too much at night. They will get nightmares..." For me, I believed in that saying because I have witnessed it myself.

Some nights, just before Jaden turns in for bed, he would love the presence of Hubby and I around him, talking and playing with him. Sometimes, he would laughed so hard that it made all of us laugh but well, it comes with consequences Hubby and I have to face. In the middle of the night after Jaden falls into deep slumber, he would suddenly shout out and then cry non-stop. Poor baby! He has to be carried out of the bedroom to be consoled... and then only back onto the bed and slowly lullaby him to sleep.

So if people were to asked me do I believe in old sayings, I would reply, "Some..." =)

Rice Cereals & Breastmilk -a success!

So far I have been feeding Jaden on a regular basis his solids.

Last week, I let him tried rice cereals but it was mixed with formula milk. He took it but after a few spoonfuls, he will turn his head away from the spoon. I tried that two days in a row and he did the same thing.

Then I moved on to Rusk biscuits just soaked in cool boiled water, he takes it but only half a cookie.

Yesterday, I opened the Gerber's Applesauce Rice Cereal and scooped up three teaspoons just to let him try. He loved it. He finished what I gave him. Hubby suspected it was due to the sweetness and he got me so worried just in case my son gets sugar-high. Luckily that didn't happy but it did not stop me from worrying.

Today, I gave him rice cereals again. This time, I mixed it with breastmilk. Just a teaspoonful of the rice cereals and he finished it all. He would opened his mouth for more if I were to put the spoon near him. Not once he tried pushing it out from his mouth.

Now that is a good sign, aint it? Shall give him rice cereals again tomorrow. Next week, we shall be going into two solid meals a day... and maybe a little porridge just to let him taste.

So happy that Jaden accepts new food. He just hates drinking formula and he even dislikes drinking water but then that is a must must -water...

Unexpected call from the auntie!

There I was, just two days ago, sitting in my 'office' doing my thang with a smug look. It was because I was just thinking to myself, "Wow! Its almost a year plus since I last had my period and I don't even remember what cramps feel like or the expected due dates of the cycle in my ovulating calendar." Its been so long since I last bought pads, not considering the maternity pads I bought-lah in Sept/Oct 07. That I need because after giving birth, confirm sure bloody till like a week so or two. Anyways, back to the topic of me being so smugged about me not having to go through the monthly visits of the so-called auntie, today, I woke up and went to pee as usual and found bloody spots on my pantiliners. OH MY GAWD!!!! That explained the cramps I keep having these few days! AARRRGGGHHH!!! and I thought they said if you breastfeed exclusively, your period won't come just yet??? OH NO!!!!! Dang~ Somehow, it also mean good news for me. Like if I want to get impregnate by my hubby, I am sure I would be pregnant in a jiffy BUT there is no mood for all these 'lovin just yet because there is just none of this wants from both Hubby and I. We are just both satisfied being re-virginised while we watch our son grow up first... The second Simon Yap Jr would just have to wait till Simon Yap Jr #1 is old enough to give his parents some privacy! *gRin*

Why? Why would the auntie want to come and pay a visit now?????? AARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
